Thikri Gasht is an improvement on the old  village defence concept of Thikri Pahira in  which the Village folks voulenteered in terms to guard their Village against bad elements specially  at night .

  The concept of Thikri Gasht is an improvement in the sense that Pehra used  to be stationary or immobile,whearas
  Gasht is mobile and secondly Pehra could cover just one Village at a time ,whearas   Gasht can cover four -five Villages at a time.

For the purpose of launching a Thikri Gasht plan in a particular Police Station the whole area is divided into zails of
 15-20 Villages and these are further divided into zones of four-five Villages to be covered by one Thikri Gasht Party.  The composition of Thikri Gasht party will  be :

          1    Two Tractor Trolleys

          2    Two- three Arms liscence holders of  the Villages

          3    Two- three youth Voulenteers of the Villages

          4    One- two surrendered terrorists or  bailed out terrorists of the Villages

          5    Two-three Police Personals of the Police Station
