THIS is what sweet dreams are made of. But Sandy Sharhaan (don’t blame yourself if the name doesn’t ring a bell right now) likes to think Lady luck has much to be credited with. For this boy from Patiala knew one thing for sure, ‘‘If there’s something I really wanted to do, it was acting from day one,’’ smiles Sandy who signed up at Punjabi University, Patiala for MA in theatre. ‘‘I started off as a model and did a couple of music videos with T-series, Priya Music and then branched off to television,’’ says Sandy who incidentally is also neighbour to Patiala boy and actor Jimmy Sheirgill.

‘‘I did some work on Doordarshan, Alpha Punjabi and Sahara but decided to pack my bags and head to Mumbai for I realised lead roles won’t come to me in Punjab,’’ he admits. What followed were seven to eight months of the quintessential struggle followed by a lucky streak. ‘‘The director of Yaaran Naal Bahaaran Manji mentioned that he was looking for a second lead but a turbaned Sikh boy,’’ Sandy explains who decided to give it a shot anyways. It didn’t take long for the director to sign him on and today, Sharhaan can’t stop beaming.

‘‘It’s a role that’ll get me noticed. At the same I play a sardar who isn’t the usual butt of all jokes. For the first time a Sikh has been shown as an important character in a film and he’s not a comedian for once,’’ says Sandy who is looking forward to the film’s release this Friday (October 7). ‘‘We have Yash Raj films behind us who will release the film worldwide and take it to 11 countries,’’ signs off the actor.

By on 12/22/2005 Rating:
Message: i would like to say that this movie has made its own place in the world of artificial stories by showing each and every incident, each and every dialogue in the movie as original as it is in real life,,,, u don't feel whether u're watching a movie or listening to a real story,,,,,, infact this movie portrays the real lifestyle and thinking of chandigarhians, be it young or old......n ofcourse the work of all the leads and sub-leads is really commendable,,,,,, !!! CHEERS !!!
